Do not use common words.
One thing that must be avoided when choosing keywords
is using what is called common words. These are words like “the”
and “and”. Spiders have been programmed to ignore these
words because of their frequent use. If they did not, every web
pages' main keyword would be a word like “and”.
Do not use these words or even combine common words with your keyword.
A good
example of a very common mistake would be using a combination like
“cars and parts”. Search engines will have a hard time
with this phrase because of the common word “and” used
in the phrase. You will have to say “car parts” to be
effective.
Keep
in mind that a search engine spider decides what your keywords are
by the number of times they are used on your page. With all of this
in mind, it is now time start choosing your keywords. Just don’t
forget, two words together counts as one keyword. If you are selling
Golf equipment, you may write down words like, Golf, golf shoes,
golf carts, golf balls, and so on. You can also choose combinations
like "buying golf", "Golf carts for sale", and
"golf equipment online".
Any
combination that you feel someone may search for online may be valid
search terms.
